Kagiso Media is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kagiso Tiso Holdings (Pty) Ltd (KTH). KTH is a leading black-owned and managed investment company.
- Kagiso Media acquired 50.01% of Mediamark's shares in 2011, giving them control of the company.
- Kagiso Media announced in October 2011 that it would sell its 50% interest in LexisNexis to Reed Elsevier South Africa.
- In December 2011, Kasigo Media announced that it would purchase publisher Juta and Company Ltd.

Directors
Reverend Frank Chikane is a Trustee of Kagiso Trust (KT) and was previously the Chairperson of Kagiso Trust.
He is also a Board member of Kagiso Capital (KC); Chairperson of DHL Global Forwarding South Africa; and Moderator of the Churches Commission on lnternational Affairs (CCIA) of the World Council of Churches (WCC).
Rev. Frank Chikane is the former Commissioner of the first lndependent Electoral Commission (lEC) which was responsible for the first democratic elections in 1994; a former Director-General in the Office of the Deputy President, Thabo Mbeki; a former Deputy Secretary of Cabinet during the Presidency of Nelson Mandela; and later Director-General in the Presidency and Secretary of Cabinet during Thabo Mbeki’s Presidency.
He is a former Chairperson of the Board of Kagiso Capital (KC) and the Board of City Power Johannesburg; a former Senior Vice-President of the South African Council of Churches (SACC); a former Member of the Board of Sci-Bono Discovery Centre; a former member of the Kagiso Shanduka Trust (KST) Advisory Committee; a former Board Member of Thebe lnvestments and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA).

Paballo Makosholo previously served as a non-executive director of KTH since its inception in 2011 and chaired the Investment Committee.
In 2020, he joined KTH from Kagiso Capital where he was the Chief Operating Officer and has more than 17 years of experience at executive and board level. He currently serves as a non-executive director of MMH, Kagiso Media and other KTH investments. As a Chartered Accountant, he also holds an MComm South African and International Tax from the University of Johannesburg. He completed an International Executive Development Programme with Columbia Business School.
He is responsible for the investment, development and execution of KTH strategy including managing all the Kagiso Media companies being Jacaranda, East Coast Radio, Juta, Urban Brew Studios and Mediamark. He is passionate about community development and serves on various structures including being a Trustee of the Graça Machel Trust and Chairman of Afrishela, a gender lensed fund that provides innovative blended capital to early growth stage women-owned and led businesses in sectors where women are prevalent.

Tshepo Setshedi has previously served as CFO of Kagiso Media and as an executive at Kagiso Trust Investments and Kagiso Tiso Holdings’ finance and investment divisions.
Prior to joining Kagiso Tiso Holdings, he worked for Eskom Treasury and PwC. He is currently chair of various group companies and a non-executive director on other boards including Kaya FM, Heart FM, and Gagasi FM. He is a qualified CA(SA) with more than 15 years of experience in finance.

Stefan Crouse is a chartered accountant and studied B. Accounting at Stellenbosch University.
Stefan is an Investment Executive at Remgro Limited and has been employed at the company since 2016. He is currently responsible for managing certain investments and serves on the boards of various companies within the group (Blue Bulls Company, Kagiso Tiso Holdings, Kagiso Media, Stellenbosch Football Club, Invenfin and Supersport SA).
He worked for PwC for five years, SAIL Group for five years and Saracens in London for three years.

Kholiwe Makhohliso has more than 23 years of experience in both the Public and Private Sectors. She has extensive experience in various industries having worked as an Auditor, CFO, Consultant, and Sales Director.
She is currently VP and Country MD of Software AG SA and is a board member. Makhohliso is a former Country Managing Director of Oracle South Africa and prior to that she held various Senior Management roles at Accenture. A Harvard Alumni and a Bachelor of Accounting Science graduate, Makhohliso completed executive and leadership programmes at leading institutions both locally and abroad. She completed the Programme for Leadership Development (PLD) at Harvard Business School, Global Executive Development Programme (GEDP) with Gordon’s Institute of Business Sciences (GIBS), South Africa and the 4sight Leadership Programme “a joint programme with Cranfield Business School, UK and IESE Business School, Spain.

Andrew Maralack serves as a Trustee at Kagiso Trust.
He is the Executive Director responsible for finances at Highveld Industrial Park.
Andrew is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in finance, auditing, business turnarounds, corporate recovery, consulting, the retirement fund industry and corporate governance. He is a non-executive board member of Kagiso Capital and Kagiso Tiso Holdings, the investment companies in which Kagiso Trust’s investments are held.

Dean Zwotaiho Nevhutalu serves as a Trustee at Kagiso Trust (KT) and has been involved with KT since 1986. He is a Pastor by profession and has spent a number of years working as the Superintendent General of the Limpopo Provincial Department of Education.
Dean Nevhutalu has served as Chairperson at Kagiso Trust, the Independent Electoral Commission in Limpopo, the Institute of Contextual Theology and Educational Aid Programme, Transvaal branch.

Pieter, has been a member of the management board at Remgro since 1 April 2013 and served as chief executive officer of Vodacom Group, from 2008 to 2012. Pieter serves on various boards including DarkFibre Africa, Grindrod, Grindrod Bank, Seacom and Mediclinic International Limited.

Mr. Mzomhle Nyenjana is the Chief Financial Officer at Kagiso Trust.
Mr. Nyenjana is a qualified Chartered Accountant and completed his articles at PriceWaterHouseCoopers.
He serves on the Board of Directors of the Johannesburg Housing Company (JHC) and the Brickfields Housing Company.

Thandie Mashego has a wealth of experience in finance and investment management.
She gained extensive experience as a senior transactor at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), where she led and concluded equity and debt transactions before moving to portfolio management. In the latter part of her career, Thandie served as CFO of Vantage Capital Group and CFO of WDB Investment Holdings, prior to joining the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund as CFO. She has also served as an Independent non-executive director on several boards.
Thandie is a Chartered Accountant and has a Master of Business Leadership (MBL) degree.

Audrey Mothupi is the Chief Executive Officer of South African based SystemicLogic Group, a global financial innovation, data, and technology company.
Audrey has worked in the public communications, wealth insurance, banking, and fintech, data and innovation sectors and serves as an independent non-executive director on the boards of Pick ‘n Pay and Life Healthcare Group. She previously served on the board of Altona Plc and is the G100 Global Chair – AI/Data and Cybersecurity. She is a Fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI), a board member of the International Women’s Forum of South Africa (IWFSA). She also served as a board member of Nordic Female Business Angel Network and the Numeric Board of South Africa and as an independent Non-Executive Director on the board of Arden Capital.

Brian Wafawarowa has had a distinguished career in publishing across education, academic, trade, legal, and professional sectors. After starting at Juta, he gained foundational publishing experience at Juta, Brian went on to enjoy a varied and celebrated career before returning in 2019 as Chief Content and Product Officer.
He has led as MD at New Africa Books, Executive Director and Chairperson of the Publishers’ Association of South Africa (PASA), Executive Chairperson of the South African Book Fair and Chairperson of the African Publishers’ Network (APNET).
He was Executive Director for Learning Services at Pearson South Africa and a board member of the International Publishers’ Association, chairing the Inclusive Publishing and Literacy Committee for years. In 2020, PASA honoured him with its first Honorary Life Membership for his contributions to the book sector.
He holds an Honours degree in Literature and Film from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master’s degree in Literature from Wits, and an Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) from UCT. A published author on publishing and literacy, he is dedicated to steering Juta’s future.

Nick Grubb is the CEO of Kagiso Media Radio, a multimedia business which operates East Coast Radio and Jacaranda FM and holds stakes in four other major SA radio stations. In addition to the recently secured Time Out partnership.
A former journalist turned media executive, his career spans leadership roles at top broadcasters and entrepreneurship in digital media.
Starting at Rhodes Music Radio, where he worked as a radio news correspondent at the East Cape News Agency (Ecna), he then became a News Editor at Radio Algoa before moving into Programme Manager at Algoa and 5FM.
Now, he leads the radio business within Kagiso Media (KM). KM Radio is one of one of SA’s leading audio businesses.
A Radio Hall of Fame inductee and Rhodes University “Top 50 Alumni” awardee, Nick also chairs the National Association of Broadcasters. Passionate about family and media, he takes pride in ECR and Jacaranda FM’s impact on community upliftment.

With over 18 years across Mining, Petroleum, Broadcasting, Energy, Investments, and Media, Calvin Sefala is a strategic leader known for driving growth, performance, and transformation.
As a Chartered Accountant, Calvin brings technical expertise and a forward-thinking approach to leadership and governance. He has held key roles at KPMG (SA & Toronto), SABC, Schneider Electric, and Endemol Shine Africa (CFO: SA, Nigeria, Kenya).
In 2017, he joined Kagiso Media Group as Group Finance Manager, focusing on investments. Since 2019, he has led Urban Brew Studios as CEO. His expertise spans governance, board leadership, and performance oversight. Passionate about innovation and values-driven leadership, Calvin continues to shape the future of the businesses he leads.

With over 30 years in sales, marketing, and advertising across SA, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe, Wayne has a strategic view of the evolving media landscape, spanning TV, radio, and digital.
His love for radio began at Radio 702 in 1993, followed by e.tv’s launch team in 1998. He joined RadMark (now Mediamark) as Sales Director in 2007, before spending time in the digital media space, before returning as CEO in 2019.
Honoured as a Media Owner Legend at the Most Awards 2021, Wayne also shapes the industry as an of the Advertising Media Association of Southern Africa (AMASA) board member, championing media education and talent development.
