East Coast Radio

East Coast Radio (ECR) is one of South Africa’s largest independent radio stations and the leading commercial radio station in KwaZulu-Natal. It boasts a loyal multi-cultural following of 1,629 million people, with its core audience comprising males and females in LSM 6–10, aged 25 to 49 years, from all race groups in KZN.

The station has an unmatched knowledge of KZN and conducts on-going research. Beyond radio, it offers billboards, activations, large scale events, digital and print exposure to clients. Its award-winning website attracts 246 000 unique visitors each month.

Through key signature events and projects, The Discovery East Coast Radio Big Walk, East Coast Radio Durban Day, The East Coast Radio House and Garden Show, the station has become part of the fabric of life in KwaZulu-Natal. What’s more, listeners have entrusted East Coast Radio with R36,550 million in donations through its CSI projects: Big Favour, Knowledge Box and Toy Story (Best Community Project at the MTN Radio Awards 2012).

East Coast Radio won two awards at the 2013 MTN Radio Awards and was named KZN’s leading brand for 2012 at the FNB KZN Top Business Portfolio Awards. It has scooped several Vodacom Journalism of the Year Awards over the past decade.

Jacaranda FM

Jacaranda FM broadcasts in English and Afrikaans to more than two million people in Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the North West Province. It also reaches a growing base of 105 000 fans on Facebook and boasts 65 000 Twitter followers.

Jacaranda FM is an important player in South Africa’s most competitive radio market, Gauteng, and dominates all of its target audience demographics in the nation’s capital, Pretoria. Its programming is constructed around a playlist of popular music from the 80s, 90s and Now.

The station also hosts several events, including the Jacaranda FM Spring Walk, a wellness event held annually in Pretoria, and the Sisters with Blisters walk, which represents the country’s largest collective stand against the abuse of women and children and raises much-needed funds in the fight against gender-based violence in South Africa. Jacaranda Day is the station’s premier live entertainment event, attracting some of the biggest names on the local music scene.

Jacaranda FM won nine awards in 2013 – a record for the station in a single year. It was also surveyed and given a clean bill of health by Deloitte as one of SA’s Best Companies to Work for.

Gagasi FM

Gagasi FM is the number one commercial radio station in KwaZulu-Natal reaching the urban and peri-urban black youth. The station harnesses a strong local identity and embraces KZN’s black youth market by broadcasting in Zunglish – a combination of English and isiZulu. As a young, hip, fresh, trendy and youthful station, Gagasi FM is music driven. The music format offers a diverse mix of R&B, Durban Kwaito, Afro House, Afro Pop, Hip Hop and Classic Soul. Additional content includes dedicated lifestyle features and specialist slots featuring news, sports, traffic reports, competitions and on-air features.

Gagasi FM’s CSI initiatives include:

  • Geleza neGagasi, a Back to School initiative aimed at rewarding excellence and encouraging learning. Through this initiative the station assists disadvantaged learners who excel at school with funding, school uniforms and stationery.
  • 67 Deeds for Mandela Day. Instead of spending 67 minutes on Mandela Day being of service to others, the station has taken up the challenge to honour former president Nelson Mandela by doing deeds throughout his birthday month.
  • The Gagasi FM Good Deeds Bus travels throughout KwaZulu Natal each December, visiting communities and performing #GoodDeeds aimed at positively impacting communities and making a difference.

OFM 94–97

OFM is the number one entertainment provider in central South Africa, offering an unrivalled listening experience with a mix of music, news and entertainment. Kaya FM

Kaya FM 95.9 is the largest independent commercial regional station in Gauteng speaking to 1,7 million loyal and discerning middle to upper class Afropolitan listeners (mature, sophisticated, socially conscious individuals rooted in heritage) weekly. The station broadcasts in English to the Greater Johannesburg Metropolitan area and the content is a unique mix of soul and jazz infused genres (60%) and intelligent and thought-provoking talk (40%).

On the CSI front, the Kaya FM 67 km Relay for Mandela Day, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, is a corporate relay challenge in honour of Tata Nelson Mandela. In partnership with the Tim Tebeila Foundation and Amalgamated Beverages Industries (ABI), Kaya FM hosts an annual Back-to-School campaign that provides stationery packs to pupils at primary schools in impoverished areas within Gauteng. These same partners return to the schools for the Winter Campaign, which provides warm tracksuits, jackets, gloves and beanies to primary school learners.

Kaya FM 95.9 publishes the bi-monthly Afropolitan magazine, which is available at leading bookstores.

Heart FM

One of the Western Cape’s top commercial radio stations, Heart FM is a thought leader, trusted member of the community, and all-round entertainer in touch with the values Capetonians hold close to their hearts.
